Youth Village has an in-house program entitled “Conversations Between Us Girls”.
This program is designed for girls only ages 10 & up and will be conducted by staff member Miss Valerie Bogar. Some meetings will also include Mrs. Ardelle Bush, who is the Community Liaison of the Healthy Start Community Coalition of Okaloosa-Walton Counties and who also trained Valerie to be a Teen Awareness Member.
Miss Bogar was a 2-year member of Mrs. Bush’s Teen Awareness Team during her junior & senior years at Niceville High School. This group of teens volunteer their time and training to impart information to their peers in the Junior and High Schools of Okaloosa County on such subjects as abstinence, avoiding peer pressure and incorporating positive decision-making.
“Conversations Between Us Girls” is designed to help educate the girls about how their bodies function: such topics include menstruation and personal hygiene as well as how to avoid peer pressure, gang-awareness, media pressure, drug and alcohol awareness & many other issues facing the young woman in today’s society.
Girls only are to be allowed in these sessions!
